Frederick University operates in the Republic of Cyprus since September 2007. Although the establishment of the University is relatively recent, the organisation has a long history of nearly 60 years in higher education. Its mission is to serve the society through education, research, and social contribution to the broader community. The University offers a broad range of academic programs of study in the areas of Engineering, Technology, Business, Arts, Architecture, Media, Humanities, Health Sciences, and Education, and operates from two campuses, in Nicosia and in Limassol.
With its dedication to academic excellence, provision of high-quality programs of study and active research, the University enjoys respect and recognition both nationally and internationally. In the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024, it ranked among the top 201-300 universities in the world, for the second consecutive year, the only university in Cyprus to ever achieve this. Dr. Nina Gorovaia-Zenios is a Tenured Associate Professor of Business Administration at Frederick University Cyprus, where she also serves as Coordinator of the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration program. With a PhD in Social and Economic Sciences from the University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna, Austria, her research examines the intersections of strategic management, franchising networks, knowledge, corporate social responsibility, and greenwashing.
Dr. Gorovaia-Zenios is an internationally recognized scholar whose work has appeared in leading ABS3 journals including European Financial Management, Industrial Marketing Management, and Small Business Economics. Her pioneering research on identifying greenwashing in CSR reports using natural language processing has been recognized as a Top Viewed and Top Cited article by Wiley and was nominated for an EFMA award.
A dedicated educator and mentor, she teaches courses in Strategic Management, International Business, Entrepreneurship, and Franchising at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
Dr. Gorovaia-Zenios is actively engaged in funded research, currently serving as Cyprus Project Coordinator for the 2.5-million-euro Erasmus+ GREENHOST project and as a Research Associate on an ERC-Vision project investigating political risk measurement. She regularly reviews top-tier journals and serves on the scientific committees of major international conferences, including the International Society of Franchising (ISoF) and EMNET.
