Hospitality and tourism play an important role in the history of Maribor. The forerunner of the Maribor Secondary School of Tourism and Catering is the Hospitality School, which was founded in 1958. The Secondary School of Tourism and Catering Maribor is one of the best hospitality schools in Slovenia, being also successful internationally. The students of the school take part in many domestic and international competitions, fairs and camps and participate in various projects. They are also actively involved in the humanitarian field.
